It happens every summer.  You are enjoying the carefree days of sleeping in, swimming and special trips when you receive a new email.  It is from your child’s school.

There is a collective sigh of disbelief. Where did the summer go?

You reluctantly print off the school supply list and head to the store.  Trying to make sense of it all, you join the moms and kids filling up the aisles searching for supplies. The many colors and styles make your head spin.

It usually takes multiple trips to various stores to complete the list. And just when you think you have the final one, the teacher adds a few more.

I know each summer must end and another school year begins, but it is never easy. I am a worrier.  I worry about my kids making new friends, making the right choices, having too much homework, balancing the time after school and so on.  I also just miss spending time with them.

Maybe you are like me. The solution is to place PRAYER at the top of your school supply list. As it says in Philippians 4:6, do not worry about anything, but pray about everything. Do you stop and give God all of your cares when worry creeps in?  If you do, you will experience God’s perfect PEACE!

Prayer and peace sound much better than worry and fear.

“Don’t worry about anything; instead pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. If you do this, you will experience God’s peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”  Philippians 4:6-7

I have been involved with Moms In Prayer International for seven years.  I meet one time a week, for one hour to pray with other moms.  We pray for our children, students , teachers and other school concerns. Every gathering fills me with peace. We can’t always be with our children, but God can.

Great post and wonderful reminder. I need to print out this verse and highlight the words prayer and peace.
