Read below an important update from Darcy Jensen.

Going back to school can be a fun time when you shop for your new backpack, school supplies, and brand new clothing essentials. But for some getting new items for school is not so easy.

That is why Prairie View Prevention is holding a back to school fair!

Family support is so important to helping kids succeed that the Celebrating Families Free Back-to-School Fair was designed to help get resources to parents who might not have access to them AND local kids will have a chance to receive brand new socks and underwear for the upcoming school year.

Life 96.5 and YOU can bless the families who come to the event when we donate brand new packages of socks and underwear from 4T to size 18.

UPDATE:  Most needed right now are 200 packages of underwear for girls and 200 packages of underwear for boys in all sizes. Girls socks are still needed in all sizes also. Please consider donating your Kohl’s cash or Shopko Bucks which can be used to purchase the most needed items. Or consider donating $5 to help toward the cost of the sizes needed most. Thank you!

Prairie View Prevention partners with Life 96.5, Lewis Drug and Shopko looking for donations to hand out, Saturday, August 26 at St. Joseph School at 601 W. 4th St.

Needed are new socks and underwear for children whose families may not be able to afford these items.

The goal and hope is to collect 1,000 packages of new socks and 1,000 packages of new underwear. They want to make sure every child has these things and feels good about themselves on their first day of school.

Also, the GoTeam Hegg Realtors have issued a challenge to other businesses in the Sioux Empire to collect donations which can be dropped off at their offices.

YOU can be the Hands and Feet of Jesus in the lives of young students going back to school this year.

Donate new packages at the Life 96.5 studios or any Sioux Falls Lewis Drug and Shopko location through August 25th.
