For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. Rom. 11:29 ESV
Many times when we give gifts to someone it is based on their behavior or performance, maybe you’ve seen that from a mom and a dad before. It is more of a bonus than a gift.
God does not take back His love, His gifts, or His calling of us no matter what we do. It is not based on our performance, or our behavior, though we should try and live right. He did not call us, or give us the gifts in our life because we were good. It is because He is good.
Another example, we may try to put on our little churchy love and smile at church, however the real test is when we leave church and step back into our real lives. Jesus said to love our enemies, bless those who curse us, do good to them who hate us, and pray for those who spitefully use us and persecute us.
We can’t do that if there are strings attached to our so called love. God’s love has been shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit. We must purpose to instantly forgive when we feel wronged and to release God’s love from within. The Holy Spirit is in us waiting to love through us if we choose to love with the God kind of love.
No matter what you have done in your life, the same gifts, the same calling, the same love, is still there. When God gives us something it comes with no strings attached.
