I am a paper addict! When I heard that the station was collecting paper and goodies to make cards in March, I knew I had to participate in some way. My daughter, Christine–15 years old, and I had a little spring cleaning day in the craft room at home. We sorted through my stash of papers, ink pads and stamps. We were able to come up with a good amount of goodies to donate to the cause. We took those in to the scrap store on Thursday. I was not sure that we’d be able to go the the card part on Friday, but at least we could contribute paper, etc.
Friday we worked through our home school assignments aiming to go to the card party after school. I think Christine was being nice to me to agree to come along with me and make cards. However, Christine is a great card maker herself. We had an easy “recipe” for cards that we thought would be perfect for “thinking of you” cards. The paper that had already been donated, the adhesives and even pretty embellishments were all at the store and ready for us to use. It was delightful to spend a couple hours with my daughter making cards that we knew would be loved and appreciated by those who receive them. We met a couple ladies from somewhere close to Brookings and had a really nice time talking to them about how God has worked in our lives. They were excited to meet Christine and learn about her mission trip coming up this summer.
When we were done, Christine said how much fun she had going with me! So, as we were serving as God’s hands making cards…I was truly basking in His favor to be there with my daughter doing something we both love. Isn’t it cool how when we serve God He blesses us even in the serving! Why are we surprised by that! God is good all the time! Thank you for providing so many different opportunities to serve our great good Shepherd! –Sarah and Christine
