I was diagnosed & treated for a brain tumor when I was 10 yrs old. I was told I would never be the same again. It was an absolute miracle that I had my first brain surgery in June – and then in September of that same year I had made a full recovery and started 5th grade ON TIME with my classmates. I remember very little of that entire experience – my parents have documented many things for me. I do remember being very afraid of being sick & dying for a long time. One day as a teenager, I read Romans 8:38-39 – and it struck me that nothing – not even death could separate me from God’s love! I no longer was afraid of death and finally felt I was free from that fear. More recently in my adult life, I have felt God using me as an encourager to others – a witness to shine His love through my life. I have really opened up at work, using my story of a life-threatening surgery to break down barriers and really talk to people. I think God is using me to listen to other’s stories, and to help them through whatever is troubling them at the time. I think my experiences in life have taught me that no matter how tough and bleak our lives may seem – God is always there, He is always Good, and only He can get us through the tough times.
