The Presentation Sisters and their outreach to Hispanic immigrants, called Caminando Juntos, was blessed by your generosity during January!

Thank you for donating brand new hats, gloves, mittens and scarves for men, women and children. These items provide a kindness that leads to ministry with the Hispanic families and individuals that come to receive help as they learn about their new surroundings and language. Sister Pegge says:

“A young Guatemalan girl who just arrived in Sioux Falls came with a family member to our office, asking for help in filling out a voucher with the Furniture Mission for furniture necessities.  She came to our office on a very blustery day.  She asked for two things –to fill out the furniture voucher and if she could have one of the hats and scarves we had on the table.  To her surprise, she thought she had to pay for the hat and scarf, but she was so grateful when she found out they were “gratis” or free for the taking. She left, blustery day and all, with hat on and scarf wrapped around her neck.”

And also:

A working man came into the office and was grateful to have seen ‘working gloves’ because he had just worn out the ones he had.  There is a real need for men’s items.  We receive a lot of hats and scarfs for women, but the men just love it when they can receive socks, gloves, hats, etc.  Many of the Hispanics do outside work or work in dairies and farms.”

Beyond the donations, Warm a Neighbor also brings people’s awareness to the program’s other ministry opportunities, like volunteering and using their Spanish language skills.

Thank YOU for showing Christ’s love during January and being the hands and feet of Jesus!
