We believe the Sioux Empire has the biggest heart to love and care for students in need.

When a family struggles to afford basic things for their student, our School Social Workers fill in the gap for students enrolled in the Sioux Falls School District. Even if you never meet a student in need, you CAN make a difference.

And it is so simple. Purchasing gift cards or donating gift cards you no longer need helps our school social workers. They can use gift cards on your behalf to provide everything from clothing to hygiene items to cab fare. Even cards for places like grocery stores, department stores, or even specialty stores are helpful. Partially used cards are welcome, too!

Life 96.5 is challenging you to help a student this month by donating gift cards in any amount from any store where items can be purchased for students in need.  Gift cards for many stores can also be purchased online at the store’s website. Donated gift cards will go directly to social workers in the Sioux Falls school district, so that they can provide for the specific needs of each student.

Some of the items social workers purchase include:  shoes, boots, XL to 3XL winter coats, snow pants, large gloves, warm clothing and underwear, socks, bras, body wash & shampoo, laundry soap, toothpaste, toilet paper, hand sanitizer, feminine hygiene products, taxi fare and gas. Gift cards to stores like Target, Walmart, Lewis, HyVee, Walgreens, or any gas station can go a long way toward helping social workers meet needs on the spot, by giving them the tools they need to continue to make a difference in ways both big and small to the students they oversee.

Thank you for being the Hands and Feet of Jesus!
