Right after Christmas in 2017 I was arrested. I was on suicide watch with no faith and no knowledge of Christ. I would lay on my concrete bed and contemplate how to end it. In hindsight I can see that God didn’t give up on me though I did. I turned to God because I knew something needed to change. Fast forward a few months and I traded commissary for a radio. I wanted to listen to 96.5 since my mom did. The first song I heard was Rise by Danny Gokey. That made me feel good so I listened before bed. I heard Love Calling by Tobymac. The line “You might get knocked down but you’re not out forever” seemed to dispel the darkness enough to see how much better life is with God.
I got out in 2019 and, on my birthday, I got baptized to rededicate my life to God, the one who never gave up on me even when I gave up on myself.
What you are doing matters! May you never forget that He’s with you even in the storms of life!
She found the words to invite us to peace and purpose in uncertain times. And she never saw it coming!
