Remembering Mandisa

Grammy-winning Christian artist Mandisa passed away at her home in Nashville. She was 47.

Mandisa was born and raised in California and came to national attention when she was critiqued by American Idol judge Simon Cowell on Season 5 of the TV vocal competition. After finishing in the Top 10 on American Idol, Mandisa released her first album in 2007.

The celebrated vocalist began her career as a member of the revered Fisk Jubilee Singers while in college at Nashville’s Fisk University. After American Idol introduced her to the masses, her charismatic personality and show-stopping voice quickly captured the hearts of listeners and her fellow artists, many of whom she collaborated with through the years. Some of those collaborations were with popular artists TobyMacMatthew WestMichael W. SmithKirk FranklinJordan Feliz, and Jon Reddick.

Mandisa’s final collection of all-new musical material, Out of the Dark, was released in 2017. She’s since released a “greatest hits” compilation, a remix EP, and a string of one-off worship singles.

Please join us in praying for Mandisa’s family and friends.
