8th Annual Feed Seniors Food Drive

All Day Event

Please Join us in helping Seniors in our Community. From October 2nd thru October 16th, Comfort Keepers, along with the Salvation Army, Active Generations, Franklin Food Market, Fareway Foods and all Sioux Falls Hy-Vee Locations will be accepting food donations to benefit Seniors in Minnehaha and Lincoln County. We need your Help. Every month The Salvation Army, in partnership with the State of South Dakota, and Feeding South Dakota, facilitate the Senior Food Commodity Box Program. Eligible seniors (aged 60 & older) can receive a food box for free each month. Each fall, another of the Salvation Army's wonderful partners, Comfort Keepers (an in-home Senior care service company) collects non-perishable food items to make sure those commodity boxes continue to help hungry seniors in Sioux Falls. Last year the program provided over 5,000 boxes to seniors in Lincoln and Minnehaha counties. Comfort Keepers will be placing donation boxes in all Sioux Falls Hy-Vee locations, Fareway foods (eastside and westside Sioux Falls locations and in Harrisburg), Franklin Food Market (711 North Cliff Avenue), Andy's Affiliated Foods (1025 S. Cleveland Avenue) and at Active Generations (2300 W. 46th Street). For more information please call Comfort Keepers at 605-977-5513 and ask for Jason Feiock, or call The Salvation Army at 605-338-6649 ext. 312.

Life Chain (2019 Sioux Falls Area)

2:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Life Chain 2019 Sioux Falls Area is a one hour prayerful event with signs promoting the pro-life message along West 41st Street from Kiwanis to Sertoma in Sioux Falls.  Life Chain will be Sunday, October 6 from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m.  Participants include anyone who wants to take a stand for life and end the grievous killing of our unborn future generation and the hurt it causes women and families. This is a silent vigil and an extension of regular Sunday morning worship.  Many churches have come forward in support of this peaceful event for their families.  Other pro-life groups are also lending their support.  Please contact the committee for questions or how you or your church can be involved online at siouxfallsarearighttolife.org or call 605-929-6531.  Groups are assigned a specific location along the route, so it is helpful to know the number or participants at least a week ahead of the event. Life Chain will be held rain or shine, so dress accordingly.  A $1 donation per participant is appreciated (but not required) to cover the cost of the signs provided.  Strollers, lawn chairs and wheelchairs are welcome. If you have ever wondered what you could do to support life, this event sends a profound yet peaceful message to the community.
