10,000 Reasons

Matt Redman

Bless the Lord O my soul
O my soul
Worship His Holy name
Sing like never before
O my soul
I’ll worship Your Holy name

The sun comes up
It’s a new day dawning
It’s time to sing Your song again
Whatever may pass
And whatever lies before me
Let me be singing
When the evening comes

You’re rich in love
And You’re slow to anger
Your name is great
And Your heart is kind
For all Your goodness
I will keep on singing

Ten thousand reasons
For my heart to find

And on that day
When my strength is failing
The end draws near
And my time has come
Still my soul will
Sing Your praise unending

Ten thousand years
And then forevermore

One story about "10,000 Reasons"

  • Andrew Boender says:

Since the first time that I heard this song, the last verse always got me choked up and sometimes tears came. You see, my dad (who was a pastor) had Alzhiemer’s and I could tell that his time was coming to an end on earth. That last verse was a way to start my grieving process. We’ll fast forward to the first weekend of Dec. 2016. My dad was passing away during that weekend. The day he died, we as a family sang several hymns in the morning and in the afternoon. My parent’s pastor came and he sang more hymns (we joined him). WE sang in the evening also. He died at at 10 PM that Saturday night. My parent’s pastor came again and again we sang hymns of praise to God. In the last couple weeks, in church we sang this song. I could sing this song and the last verse with more meaning and a peaceful emotion (but still sad) especially the last verse
Dad is home for 10,000 years and then forever more.
